Guardian Appraisals is the appraisal firm formed by Peter Blundell and his spouse, Marian. We invite you to read through each of our biographies, to see why you are in good hands when you ask us to evaluate your item.
Peter is a fully Accredited Appraiser and a member of the Canadian Professional Appraisers – a body of well known and skilful appraisers from across Canada. Residing in Vernon, British Columbia, Peter Blundell is well respected as a professional appraiser, and his opinion is highly regarded.
Peter has written three books on antique furniture and is also a recognized authority on paintings, prints, silver, oil lamps, china, porcelains, pottery and collectables. Although his life passion with art and antiques began in the 1960’s marketplace, he now prefers to concentrate solely on appraising items full-time.
Marian is a fully Accredited Appraiser and a member of the Canadian Personal Property Appraisers – a body of well known and skillful appraisers from across Canada.
Marian too has been heavily involved in the whole antiques and fine art business over the years assisting Peter in his travels and endeavours, helping to run their antiques business, wholesale and retail, art gallery (even a fun ice cream parlour) all in Schomberg Ontario. The whole family moved to British Columbia in 1995.
Her interest in heritage matters took her to the Vernon and District Heritage Society as Secretary and Treasurer, as well as the president of the Canadian Club of Vernon. Marian acknowledges that there is so much to learn and so many facets involved in the heritage world: the hunt, the reading, the refinishing, the knowledge one gains and maybe the profit that can be found at the end of the day.
An avid photographer and experienced businesswoman, Marian helps Peter do his appraisals by offering her photographic skills as well as applying her business, knowledge and heritage skills.
The skillset of each member of this team is a winning combination!
